Service Man for the Swedish Armed Forces
Do you enjoy practical work, taking responsibility, and focusing on safety? The Swedish Armed Forces is now looking for a service man who wants to make a difference in an important and community-supporting operation.
About the Training and Firing Range Department
The Training and Firing Range Department is part of the Garrison Support Unit at I 21 and is responsible for the operation, development, and maintenance of several training and firing ranges in Härnösand, Sollefteå, and Östersund. The work is carried out in close collaboration with managers and users of the ranges, where dialogue, coordination, and practical solutions are a natural part of everyday life.
Together, we contribute to safe and functional training environments for operations within the Swedish Armed Forces, in a job that is varied and offers flexibility and balance in work life.
Main Responsibilities
As a service man, you will work independently with the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of training and firing ranges, primarily located in Härnösand. The work is practical and varied, including handling the receipt and distribution of target materials as well as opening and closing firing ranges in accordance with applicable safety procedures. The role also includes supervision, maintenance, and minor repairs of shooting ranges, firing fields, and equipment, working with machines and tools, as well as handling and neutralizing unexploded ammunition according to established procedures.
You will work alone within your area of responsibility but will have close collaboration with colleagues in other locations and with other functions within the Swedish Armed Forces. The position may, if necessary, involve work at all of I 21's training and firing ranges, as well as service during evenings and weekends. The position includes three hours of physical training per week during working hours.
Qualifications
- High school education with passing grades
- Driver's license B and C and some years of experience in truck driving
- Experience in operating wheel loaders and tractors
Personal Qualities
As a service man, you work independently but have regular contact and collaboration with colleagues in different locations and functions. You are practical, solution-oriented, and take responsibility for ensuring that things work – always with safety in focus. In your daily work, you contribute to good cooperation through clear communication and by taking your own initiatives. The role is practical and challenging, suitable for those who enjoy variety, responsibility, and making a difference in operations. You have good physical fitness and are prepared for the work to be physically demanding. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Meritorious
It is meritorious for the position if you have experience in practical work and are accustomed to handling machines and tools, for example in welding and carpentry. A BE driver's license and chainsaw and brush cutter certificates facilitate daily work, and experience in handling various machines and tools is considered a significant plus. Good computer skills, primarily in MS Office, are also meritorious. We would like you to have a broad technical interest and enjoy solving practical problems independently and responsibly.
